Yoga Mindset Coaching (YMC) is a holistic approach that integrates the principles of yoga with the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model to address both the mental and physical aspects of well-being. Let's break down some key points and explore how this approach works:
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?
- Overview: Developed by Richard Schwartz, IFS views individuals as having multiple sub-personalities or "parts."
- Example: Conflicting desires, like wanting to socialize at a party versus desiring solitude to read a book, illustrate the coexistence of different "parts."
- Function of Parts: Parts play a crucial role in shaping thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.
- Potential Issues: Parts may become imbalanced, leading to strong emotions, stuck beliefs, and internal conflicts.
How do imbalanced parts manifest in the body?
- Signs of Imbalance: Physical discomfort and stress are seen as manifestations of parts in need of attention.
- Examples of Manifestations: Gut pain, tight chest, muscle tension, headaches, and sleep difficulties.
What is the goal of YMC?
- Main Objective: Alleviate physical discomfort and stress by integrating yoga principles with the IFS model.
- Empowerment: Clients are empowered to take a leadership role in understanding and harmonizing their internal parts.
- Accessing Self Energy: Focus on accessing and embodying self-energy, which includes qualities like calmness, clarity, curiosity, compassion, confidence, courage, creativity, and connectedness.
What are my outcomes?
- Mind-Body Connection: Increase awareness of how mental and emotional states impact physical well-being.
- Inner Calm: Learn how to create a sense of calm in both the mind and body.
- Leadership of Parts: Gain confidence in the leadership and management of internal parts to promote balance and well-being.
- Self-Empowerment: Develop a stronger understanding of how to access and embody positive self-energy.
- Long-term Benefits: Acquire skills for long-term self-management and self-empowerment.
- Reconnecting with Self: Experience a reconnection with your true self and reduce physical discomfort.

Yoga mindset coaching really helped me connect with my inner self in a way that I have never experienced. The sessions were so powerful and transformative, it’s amazing how much I learned about myself, and the many different parts of who I am. Val was incredibly kind and understanding and made me feel safe even when unraveling intense emotions and experiences. Her compassion and insight will lead you to places within yourself you didn’t even know existed - Rachel
The individual coaching sessions with Val provided me with some mind shifts that made a tremendous difference for me. I was caught up in the trap of always “doing” rather than just “being”, slowing down and relaxing. I began to take more time for myself and let go of my worries. I felt so much better after my series of sessions! I heartily recommend them! - ‘Staci’
